JUST THE BEGINNING
One of four San Diego County licensed medical dispensaries, began doing business as “Olive Tree Wellness Center”, a patient association serving the San Diego community.
ONWARD AND UPWARD
Proposition 64 passed in CA allowing for Adult-use operations but giving municipalities the option to participate. San Diego county opted to not participate remaining solely in the Medical market. The company struggled as our competitive power was crippled by regulation and the relentless black and gray markets.
A NEW BEGINNING
We took a different approach and identified challenges, gaps, assumptions, and opportunities for operational adjustments to be made that would have a direct impact on the organization’s bottom line. We adopted new strategies, supplemented the team, and started to rebuild from within. Jaxx Cannabis, our flagship store was born. A rebranding strategy that yielded an immediate positive impact on the bottom line.
A SOLID FOUNDATION
Characterized by a global pandemic, nonetheless, cannabis was deemed an essential business. Consumption of cannabis increased showing evidence that the cannabis industry is recession and pandemic-proof. Such characteristics coupled with the operational adjustments implemented in the prior year had a positive impact on our bottom line.
BUILDING A STRONGER TOMORROW
The pandemic started subsiding, sales at Jaxx increased by 34% from 2020, and the gross margin was at a record 63% by the first quarter. With the systems in place to drive our expansion, we are well on our way to execute on our strategically designed plan for sustainable growth.
